All projects integrating innovative use related to the use of green technologies in industry and green chemical practices are admissible. Focus of waste management (logistic, supply management, storage, conversion, etc.) and/or waste upgrade (extraction, transformation, conditioning, biorefining, etc.) is required. Presented technologies can be new or existing as long as their use is innovative. It isn’t obligatory, but strongly recommended to implicate industrial partners to participate in your project. At least one of the innovations presented mustn’t be on the commercial market at the moment of the project’s competition entry. To be admissible to compete, the section ”Letter of Intention” must be received no later than 5 pm, February 15th, 2016.
Admissibility of International Students
Admissible students from all countries are eligible to enter the competition. However, all project related expenses are to be assumed by the participants. The organizers of the competition are not responsible for any expenses incurred by participants. Admissible students must be enrolled as full-time college or university students. Teams chosen as finalists must present their projects during the 2016 Vertech Colloquium which will be held here in Belgium (Namur, Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech). Eight Finalist Teams
Eight finalists will be selected amongst all the participating teams who have completed the “Letter of Intention” section. The responsible person for each selected final project will be notified by email the 1st of February, 2016; selected teams may then complete the “Detailed Project Section” part of the official participation form.
Finalists Presentations of the Eight Selected Projects
These eight teams will be offered a sum of up to €1500 to assure the presence of at least one team member during the Vertech Colloquium in Namur and Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech, Belgium. The maximum time allotted to each presentation is 10 minutes, followed by a 5 minute question period, for a total presentation time of 15 minutes. The representative(s) of the finalist teams are obliged to present their project during both Nino Innovation Fair (Namur) and VERTECH colloqium (Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech). The winners are assured a high profile audience and have the chance to be recognized by field specialists. specialists.
Each team is required to furnish a poster for presentation purposes that clearly resumes the key points of their respective projects problematic and their proposed approach. The poster must measure 36 X 48 inches or A0 format.
A jury of field experts will evaluate the eight finalist’s projects on the basis of their quality and presentation during the Vertech Colloquium will take place from March 15th to 16th, 2016 in Gembloux Agro-Bio Tech. The selection of the three finalist’s projects and a winning project will be effected by a jury of experts. The jury holds the right to not accept any project it deems incompatible with the competition’s objectives or the inherent values of the organization. Candidate evaluation and the selection of the eight finalists will be undertaken by the organizing committee who bases their judgment by the following criteria:

7. Environmental benefits and impact
8. The integration of existing technologies
9. The quality of the presentation
First, Second and Third Place Prizes
A prize of €5000 will be allocated to the winning team. A prize of €3000 will be awarded for the 2nd place finishing team. A special « Vertech Bachelor » prize will be awarded to a project supported by a Bachelor level team.
Presentation of the Prizes
The winners will be announced during the 2016 Vertech Colloquium.
By entering their project in the Vertech competition, the responsible team member understands that the jury’s decision is final and without appeal. The candidates attest to have received all the necessary authorization that permits the diffusion of the information pertaining to their innovations presented within the framework of the competition. Any mention in the present regulations regarding time is in Brussels Time and all monies are in Euros.
